Week 4 - Rendering Workflow

Howdy...
The idea of rendering is very subjective. but for toy design we need to take our thoughtful and detail-filled thumbnails and get them into a form that can be presented. Traditionally most rendering or presentation sketches were finished in marker or guoche (as depicted here in class) but using a vector based digital tool, like the demo, allows us to work fast and output designs in a multitude of ways. Link to the in-class demo files here....or email if you need them sent. More than happy to review work online.

Week 3 - Deconstruction Methods

Hi.
Great class this week, everyone was in "toy-genius" mode and showed a high level of concept formation. All the sketch models were very creative....original. As we move to a more traditional ideation workflow via sketching and rendering, you will find the toy ideas you see in your mind can be output in various ways. I will put up a Deconstruction Demo Reel by next class. John

Week 2 - The Basics of Play

It was great to see all hang in as we moved forward into the fundamentals of play and the dynamic that is set up between toys & children. As we begin Project One, the focus will move into rendering our ideas to paper and building sketch models of "quick" designs. This weeks class will be really hands on!

WEEK 1 - Introduction

Welcome all to toy design, syllabus and complete overview of the course was the topic of this session.
